Kolob Light

I am excited to be participating in Leslie Saeta's "30 Paintings in 30 Days" Challenge this month.  There are over 1,000 artists around the world participating in this challenge in January 2015. This is my first painting of the challenge and first of 2015. This piece was a commission and is sold. "Kolob Light" (7x10 oil) was painted from reference photos I took in Kolob Canyon, which is part of Zion National Park in Utah. There was a brief moment of sun lighting up the ground and some of the rock formations through the fog...so beautiful!

My original comment may have gotten lost...so sad. I'm thrilled to have met you and Donald last night at the Laguna Beach hospitality night. Your spirit and gifting are wonderful!

This painting evoked a bonding memory set in Zion with my wife and our youngest son. I tell it to you some day. Your description of "the brief moment of sun lighting up the ground" is spot on. God is such an amazing designer. That he give us capacity for enjoyment of it portends an amazing future in the life to come.

Best wishes to you and Donald for a glorious life.
